Sleep / 03
Training, travel, and long days show up in the night. This is four weeks of personal sleep recovery coaching, shaped by sports scientist Barry Bridges. It meets you on WhatsApp.
The approach
Sleep is the health pillar. Nutrition and training do less of their work when the night is broken. People who already train, travel, or carry a hard week often try to force the night itself. This approach starts earlier than that.
Barry Bridges is a sports scientist and sleep recovery specialist, and the founder of Successful Sleeper in Cape Town. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science, with psychology, from the University of the Western Cape, and a sleep science certification from the University of Michigan. Certifications he publishes include the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the Spencer Institute, Fit2Succeed, Keilir Health Academy, and EXOS, across sleep science, sleep recovery, sports performance, golf fitness, cognitive fitness, and functional movement screening. He has spent more than 14 years in sport and performance.
That work has included corporate wellness for travellers, sleep recovery coaching for Depslepwear, wellness coaching for the South African Esports Federation, strength and conditioning with Ajax Cape Town juniors, golf fitness at Pure Motion Golf Academy, and support for combat athletes, DJs, and music producers.
A few ideas are enough to see the shape. Forget chasing a fixed number of hours, and think in sleep cycles. Recovery starts when you wake, because the night cannot be forced. Chronotype can be worked with. Don’t stress about sleep — let it be a natural process. The mornings, the day, and the evening all belong to the picture. How each week is built stays on WhatsApp.
If poor sleep looks like chronic insomnia, talk to a medically trained sleep doctor or a specialist in cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia. This plan does not decide that for you.
How it works
Tell Coach how your days, travel, and nights actually go. The plan starts from that, not from a generic routine.
See what is most likely getting in the way, and keep the work small enough to live with.
Follow a 4-week plan for sleep recovery on WhatsApp. The four weeks are the start of the work, not a promise that sleep is fixed at the end.
Human knowledge
The sleep Coach is shaped by Barry Bridges, a sports scientist and sleep recovery specialist. It carries his method into coaching you can use. The chat is not Barry replying in person, and it does not replace a sleep doctor.

The plan
Personal coaching on WhatsApp. It is a place to start, not a date by which sleep must be fixed.
